The Collegiate Church of St Peter, Westminster, which is almost always referred to by its original name of Westminster Abbey, is a mainly Gothic church, on the scale of a cathedral (and served as one from 1546 – 1556), in Westminster, London, just to the west of the Palace of Westminster. It is the traditional place of coronation and burial site for English monarchs. Read more about Westminster Abbey here.
Westminster Bridge is a road and foot traffic bridge over the River Thames between Westminster and Lambeth, in London, England. The current bridge, opened in 1862, is the second on the site and replaced an earlier stone bridge that had opened in 1750, but which was subsiding badly and expensive to maintain. Westminster Bridge is a seven-arch wrought iron bridge which has gothic detailing by Charles Barry (the architect of the Palace of Westminster). It is the only bridge over the Thames that spans seven arches and is the oldest bridge in the central area of the river Thames. Read more about Westminster Bridge here.
Many a good summers night I have spent in this area, eating, drinking, and socialising. Close to Liverpool street station this place is well worth a visit if you like, well anything. The Old Truman Brewery is the former Black Eagle brewery complex located around Brick Lane in the Spitalfields area, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is normally much more busy than this image suggests, in this shot is my baby and partner sitting on the bench.
A 360 degree panorama outside the Lloyds building. My favourite London building. The Gherkin is in sight and also one of the buildings is being taken down, most unusually from the ground up. Located at One Lime Street, in the City of London, it was designed by architect Richard Rogers and took eight years to build. It opened it doors to insurance institution Lloyd’s of London in 1986.
